Scholarships   

Total Scholarship amount $2000

 Criteria:

 A Certificate of Achievement is required.

 GPA: Selection criteria will be used and the GPA will only be a factor. A GPA of less than 2.75 will not mean automatic disqualification. The GPA will be used as part of the selection criteria and will be factored into the total application.

 Work Hours Required: Work experience will still be part of the selection criteria in which judges evaluate an applicant however, applicants will no longer be automatically disqualified if lacking a minimum number of industry work hours.

Graduating junior: Include a letter of        acceptance or intent to enroll in a food service  program (minimum 9 credit hours)

NYSRAEF & NRAEF ProStart Scholarship

Mise en Place Award

 

Total scholarship amount $5000

 Criteria:

 -Must be a ProStart graduating senior awarded the ProStart COA between 9/1/07-8/16/08

-Workplace validation form signed by NYSRAEF School to Career Director & verified by Chicago

-Passed both year 1 and year 2 ProStart National Exam with at least a 70%

-150 work documented hours in the ProStart school’s kitchen

-250 hrs or more of paid work experience documented with pay stubs or W2 form or a cover letter from the food service facility signed by the supervisor & culinary educator

-List all work sites where paid work took place: address, phone numbers and supervisor(s) names

-Student must have 3 letters of recommendation from:

1. Culinary teacher

2. Owner/Operator of a work site

3.  A non family member

-Student work experience check list (found in section 2 of the ProStart Tool Kit) signed by employer or educator

-Senior year transcript with 2.75-4.0 GPA

-Letter of acceptance or intent from post secondary school in foodservice/hospitality program

-300 minimum word essay on your ProStart experience

 Are you a ProStart student that placed in one of the 5 top positions at the National ProStart Student Invitational?

If so you can receive:

-A scholarship for placing

-and/or an NRAEF Scholarship

-and/or this Mise en Place Award
